rare 1/2 plate daguerreotype of a watchmaker and his wife, France ca. 1845
A very beautiful duo.
These early European daguerreian portraits are special in several ways.
First of all, man and wife are still together! (Who am I to separate them?...) And of course, an early occupational 'French' daguerreotype is rare. The man poses with some small objects on the table. These are parts of a watch/clock (see last picture for details).
On the other hand, the portrait of the woman is touching. Her look is a little strange. She poses near a very small table with flowers on. This bouquet is hand tinted with much care. An amazing detail.
The daguerreotypes are professionally resealed with their original mat and fascinating back paper.
Both are 1/2 plate daguerreotypes of amazing quality.
(details of the flowers are available too, please contact us for all the pictures)
