A very unusual carte de visite of a dead Zouave. The French soldier lies on his back next to a tree. A white cloth covers his head. The unrecognizable woman in the back of the picture makes this photo very unusual. She is wearing a long beautiful dress. Due to the composition, her head is not visible. In a way this image reminds us of the staged work Gaudenzio Marconi made in the 1870's during the Commune.
The photo dates from 1871, at the time of the Paris Commune. No further information is known about this photo.

CDV is in used but good condition, a little bit pale, because it isn't a gold toned aristotype. Dated "1871" on the verso in an unknown hand.
