A fascinating CdV of a special photographer: A.A.E. Disdéri. The caricature is made by Van den Anker/Acker (signed in the negative).

The caricature appeared in the 'Journal Amusant' on 11 August 1860 as a wood engraving. Ridiculed for his prominent beard, his bald head and the exotic tunic he donned when operating, his showmanship earned him a reputation as an egotist and a dandified poseur (from Paul Frecker).

His shadow is visible as a camera, while the long beard points towards a client.
