Mayer & Pierson (attr.): général Parchappe (Marne), ca. 1860

Image of Mayer & Pierson (attr.): général Parchappe (Marne), ca. 1860

A nice portrait, possibly made by Mayer & Pierson of Charles Jean-Baptiste Parchappe.

He entered the Military School of Fontainebleau on December 8, 1804, and was appointed sergeant-major there.

Wounded at the battle of Wagram by a cannonball which removed his shako.
Captain Parchappe made the Russian campaign with distinction and was wounded there.
On January 28, 1814, he was appointed battalion commander and officer of the Legion of Honor on the battlefield.

The Restoration left him inactive; but he made the campaign of Belgium and was at the battle of Ligny and was again sent home.
