Maurisset: Prodige de la Chimie, lithograph ca. 1839
French cartoon by Theodore Maurisset shows a long line of people, with more arriving by stagecoach and railroad, at a medicine show where a quack with a lion's head, the "Prodige de la chimie," is marketing his hair tonic "De pommade du lion." In the center, a balloon "Envoi de pommade aux habitants de la lune" is being inflated.
This lithograph is made in the same style as the later "Daguerreotypomanie", also by Maurisset.
ca. 25,4 x 34,3 cm the page is complete with "La Caricature" on top of the cartoon and "Chez Aubert, Gelerie Véro-Dodat" in the lower left corner.
