Jacques Belin: In the Darkest Night No Place, ca. 1949
Jacques Belin (1910-1974), photographer since 1933 for the French newspaper "Le Jour", joined the SCA (Service cinématographique de l'armée) in 1939 and was sent to North Africa. Demobilized in July 1940, he resumed service with the SCA in September 1943 and took part in the campaigns in Italy, France and Germany until April 6, 1945.
Belin is well known for his photographic work in Morocco.
A fascinating photograph with abstract en modernist quality. Copyright stamps on the verso. Dated "23 Fev 1949".
