J.M.: La Lune, Emisphère Austral, France ca. 1930
A beautiful image of the moon by J.M., an unknown amateur astronomer. The composition is almost abstract. Title and annotations in an unknown hand on the verso: "La Lune, 6e Jour, Grossissement 90 fois, Emisphère Austral".
Printed on Velox photographic paper. This popular paper was invented by Leo Baekeland in 1893. Kodak discontinued the manufacture of Velox paper in 1968. Velox was the first commercially successful photographic paper.
The Velox logo on this print is an older one and definitely before 1945.
Signed in the lower right corner of the gelatine silver print. One wrinkle in the upper left corner.
