Dr Hermann Heid (1834-1891) was born in Germany and active in Austria. He made nude studies for painters and sculptors during his career. His work is often mixed up with the nude studies made by Igout.

The model takes a beautiful and fascinating pose, almost like a dance.

The unmounted albumen print is in good condition, some yellowing due to age. Numbered in the negative, lower left corner: Coll. E. 269. Heid used a code with his negative numbers that started with "E" for women and "F" for men.
