A fascinating lot of two daguerreotypes by an unknown maker. The 6th plate is the original portrait of a father with his daughter. The 9th plate is a vintage copy daguerreotype of the same image. Because each daguerreotype is a unique object, the original image must be rephotographed. As a result, the copy image is often slightly less sharp and contrasty. Interesting to see that both have similar shade on the daughter's dress. Maybe done by the same photographer?

It's unusual to have boot images still together after so many years. Interesting piece of photographic history.
