A lovely self portrait of an unknown photographer. The smiling man with a mustache poses near a folding camera. The painted backdrop shows a landscape with a windmill. The photographer wears suspenders and sits on a wooden chair. The albumen print was colored by hand.

The photo has the format of a CDV, but was pasted on a cut-off cabinet card. The photographer's imprint is partially visible and reads "Photographie Artistique". This unusual presentation was probably made by the photographer himself and was not intended for a client.
