Anonyme: post mortem hand of Victor Hugo, Paris ca. 1952
A macabre but fascinating photo of Victor Hugo's right hand. After his death, a plaster impression was made of his writing hand. This press photo comes from the photo archive of "Caisse Nationale des Monuments Historique" in Paris and is dated 28/2/52. Titled in pencil on the verso, "Main de Victor Hugo moulée après sa mort".
Interesting sentence on the reverse: "La main qui a écrit plus de 130.000 vers". [The hand that wrote more than 130,000 verses.]
Gelatine silver print ca. 18 x 24 cm
Literature: Published in the magazine "Point de vue images du monde" n° 195 (28/2/52).
