Decorated veteran of the French Revolutionary Wars.

Very interesting image of Colonel Baron de Pierrebrune, born on May 14, 1766 as Jean Baptiste Gilbert Pasquanet de Pierrebrune. Born well before the French Revolution! The man is holding a crutch and wearing two medals, including the Légion d'Honneur. He also was "Chevalier de l'orde Royal".

He fought for Louis XVI during the campaigns of 1794 and 1795. Documents for the Légion d'Honneur date back to Napoleon's first abdication (dated August 24, 1814). Other documents were drawn up several months after Waterloo dated November 4, 1815. We found several of these documents in the Archives Nationales in Paris. These documents are digital and for reference only!

The daguerreotype shows signs of age. The painted mat and the wooden frame date from around 1845. Despite the signs of wear, a very interesting historical document of the French Revolutionary Wars.

4th plate daguerreotype with tinted medals. Writing on the verso: "Colonel Baron de Pierrebrune, Grand père de Yolande Babeur (paternel)"

frame ca. 21,8 x 18,9 cm
