Roger Fenton: Shooting for the Duke of Cambridge's Prize , Wimbledon, 2 July 1860
A rare print from Roger Fenton, July 1860.
Title: 'Shooting for the Duke of Cambridge's Prize , Wimbledon, 2 July 1860'
Albumen print, ca. 23x29 cm
This was probably a 'test print' made for the collection of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. There is another print of the same photograph in the Royal Collection.
The spots are not disturbing the interesting details on this print. Some fading on the edges. The image was taken on the occasion of the inaugural meeting of the National Rifle Association in Wimbledon. Photographs of this event are rare.
