"Marchands Ambulants": collodion negative for ambrotype, ca. 1870
A collodion glass negative made after another photograph. It was common practice to make copy images for different purposes.
The topic of this one is rare and fascinating. Three asian 'marchands ambulants' (street vendors) are posing with their merchandise.
The glass is hand cut by the photographer, the collodion is clearly visible. The negative was made to use as a cased ambrotype. Comes in it's original titled and numbered envelop.
