Bingham: actress Achard with long hair looking in a mirror, ca. 1865
An amazing photograph by Robert J. Bingham. He started his activities in 1850 making daguerreotypes. Bingham also claimed to be the inventor of the collodion technique (see back of this CdV). One of his many specialities were 'portraits avec grandeur'. This one is an excellent example!
This Carte de Visite shows a portrait of a rare visual quality in 19th century photography. The composition with the mirror is beautiful. Her long hair is impressive.
In pencil on the verso: 'Actrice Achard' in a later and unknown hand.
